Photos: Scenes from the Phillies’ 2016 home opener

It was a beautiful opening day for the Phillies as theysquared off with the Padres, the sun started to come out and thousands of fans were warmed by the sun and by their shared love for baseball.

Opening day at Citizens Bank Park kicked off with a free opening day block party at noon where fans lined up to party and celebrate the team’s return.

Opening day also saw wounded Philly cop Jesse Hartnett throw the first pitch — then turn around and propose to his girlfriend.

She said yes, of course.
