Police, Uber driver, children struck in separate DUIs over weekend

In three separate car accidentsover the weekend, two police officers, an Uber driver, and two young girls were struck, but all the victims are reportedly in stable condition.

The officers were injured when a driver under the influence crashed into their police car in West Philly early Sunday, police said.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. when a 58-year-old man driving a 2001 Lincoln Navigator crashed into three police officers inside two police vehicles that were parked next to each other at Chestnut andSouth 52ndstreets.

The driver hit one car with two officers inside, pushing it into the other, which had one officer.

Both police cars sustained heavy damage.

The three police officers, a 46-year-old male and 27-year-old male who were in one car, and a 45-year-old female in the other, were treated at Presbyterian Hospital for complaints of pain, police said, but no serious injuries were listed.

The driver, who has not been identified,will be charged with DUI, police said.

Around the same time, an Uber driver was struck by a DUI driver, NBC reported.

The driver reportedly was passing a tractor trailer nearAcademy and Woodhaven roadswhile trying to access a highway on-ramp, then struck an Uber driver. The Uber driver was reportedly not inured. The DUI driver was not identified but is expected to face charges.

These crashes came a day after another driver hit a crowd of pedestrians around 5:45 p.m. on the 3400 block of Jasper Street.

Three pedestri ans , a 45-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl were all struck in the crash Saturday afternoon.The women were transported to Hahnemann Hospital for treatment and were all listed in stable condition.

The driver, 50, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said.
