Bobby Valentine named AD at Sacred Heart
Bobby Valentine is a man who has always wanted to try new things. He has been a manager in both the American and National leagues, a manager in Japan and a safety officer in the city of Stamford, but there’s been nothing quite like his latest gig.
Valentine will be the next athletic director at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.. The news was first reported by the Connecticut Post.
The 62-year-old Valentine managed the Red Sox last season, but was fired after finishing with a 69-93 record, the team’s worst season in more than 40 years.
A native of Stamford, Conn., Valentine takes over for Don Cook who has been at the school for 20 years and been involved with collegiate athletics for over 40 years. Sacred Heart has 32 Division 1 teams and competes in the Northeast Conference.
