Celtics land back-up big with White signing

D.J. White is now a Celtic.

The Celtics were in desperate need of signing a backup big man after trading Jason Collins a week ago. Enter D.J. White, a star at Indiana during his college days, who the C’s signed to a 10-day contract Thursday.

White has played five seasons in the NBA, most notably with the Thunder and most recently with the Bobcats.

White, who has seen time at both power forward and center, averaged 6.8 ppg and 3.6 rpg in 58 games with the Bobcats last year. He will wear No. 12 with the Green.
