Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa Benti (unofficial time of 2:10:22) was the fastest man in the field of the 2013 Boston Marathon Monday. It was just the Ethiopian’s second marathon, having won the Dubai Marathon in January.

American Jason Hartmann finished fourth for the second year in a row.

Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo won the women’s field with an unofficial time of 2:26:25.

Ana Dulce Felix was dominating the women’s field as of 11:25 a.m. but the veteran Jeptoo closed the gap and overtook her around 11:45 a.m.. The 32-year-old Jeptoo, who crossed the finish line just before noon, won the Marathon in 2006.

Marblehead, Mass. native Shalane Flanagan finished up with a time 2:27:07, placing fourth.

Tatyana McFadden got the Americans off to a good start Monday as she won the women’s wheelchair race with a time of 1:45:25. She had taken the Chicago and New York marathons in the past. McFadden was born in Russia but lives in Maryland.

Japan’s Hiroyuki Yamamoto captured the men’s wheelchair crown with a time of 1:25:32.
