Playing the Field: Deion Sanders is very happily divorced

Marriage lasts forever — unless you are a musician, actor, athlete or 50 percent of the general population. In that case, it’s time for a divorce.

The long saga that was Deion Sanders’s divorce ended Friday and he had no qualms celebrating the victory — with God. The all-powerful, all-knowing deity apparently took special interest in the greatest cornerback of all time’s separation. After the divorce was finalized, Sanders took to Twitter to thank all the appropriate parties.

Sanders was smart enough to sign a prenup and, as he helpfully informed us, he did not have to fork over much in the way of money to now ex-wife, Pilar. He also retained custody of his children, but as you can see from his tweet, that was secondary. It probably didn’t hurt his case that Pilar, along with a friend, attacked him in April 2012 in front of their children.

He also had some love advice for those of you thinking about getting married.

“Yo flesh will lie until yo flesh die.”

That just about sums it up.
