Celtics snap two-game slide with win over Nets

It wasn’t the prettiest wins by any means, but the Celtics were able to overcome 28 turnovers to top the Nets, 91-84, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process Friday night at TD Garden. Even with the win, the C’s have still dropped seven of their last nine.

The Celtics led 53-41 at the half and then were able to hold on in an ugly second half which saw the two teams combine for just 27 points in the fourth quarter. Rajon Rondo led the C’s with 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, while Jeff Green chipped in with 15. Kelly Olynyk had a solid game off the bench contributing 13 points and seven rebounds.

Former Celtics Kevin Garnett didn’t make the trip for the Nets and Paul Pierce finished with 10 points in 33 minutes of action. Joe Johnson paced the Nets with 21 points in the loss.

The C’s will be back in action Sunday night (6:00, CSNNE) against the Pistons at home.

What they’ll be saying: It was an ugly game all-around with the C’s committing 28 turnovers, led by seven from Rondo leading to 26 points for the Nets. The Nets shot 36 percent from the field and a miserable 13 percent (4-for-30) from three-point range. Despite just five points in 26 minutes of action off the bench, Jared Sullinger had a solid game pulling down 12 rebounds, while Avery Bradley remained sidelined with an ankle injury.
