Tiger Woods is addressing the media at Aronomink Golf Club this afternoon. An injured knee and Achilles has sidelined the former No. 1 player in the world, but he managed to be on site for this week's AT&T National, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Metro Philadelphia sports editor Mike Greger and photographer Rikard Larma are on the scene. The first thing they noticed? Woods is sporting a full beard.
But more importantly is the state of Woods' injury and whether or not he'll play in the British Open, which is only two weeks away.
"Everything is progressing," Woods said, adding that he hasn't hit golf balls but has putted. He also says he “wasn't 100 percent at Players. Setting no timetable for return this time.”
Woods says as for the British Open in two weeks, “No timetable, too early to tell.”
However, Woods was defiant, reminding the media that he's not as far over the hill as they've made him out to be.
"I'm 35 not 65," says Woods. "I hope to play this game as long as I want to, I feel my best years are still ahead of me"
On Rory McIlroy's runaway, Tiger-esque victory at the U.S. Open, Woods said, "Pretty cool, very impressive."
