Villanova’s James Bell named Big East Player of the Week
There are multiple heroes on the nearly unstoppable Villanova Wildcats the season, but it is hard to argue that James Bell is making his case for team MVP.
The senior was voted the Big East Conference Player of the Week Monday, following two stellar performances in two winning efforts for the No. 6 Wildcats.
Bell led the squad with 23.5 points and seven rebounds in the two victories, shooting 68 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from beyond the arc.
On the season, Bell is averaging 16 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Bell was also named the Big 5 Player of the Week for the third consecutive time.
Bell’s teammates are no doubt equally pleased with the most recent top 25 poll from the Associated Press that has the 21-2 Wildcats keeping their position just outside the top five.
Ahead of Villanova in college basketball’s most elite quintet are Syracuse, (unanimous No. 1), Arizona, Florida, Wichita State and San Diego State. Evan Macy
