Twitter can be a very useful tool for garnering updates on breaking news and inside insight from a host of different reporters, commentators and analysts.

It is also good for calling Alex Rodriguez an idiot.

If you hadn’t heard — and I’ll assume that means you’ve been holed up in a Russian airport awaiting asylum — Rodriguez is to be suspended Monday for his role in the Biogenesis scandal. And those in the Twittersphere could not be more excited.

And so I present to you, people on Twitter bagging on A-Rod:

Andy Martino is the New York Daily News’ Inside Baseball writer and a regular deliverer of MLB-related sarcasm. I thought I’d start off the parade with something subtle. Don’t worry, it gets worse when you travel to the average person.

If you don’t follow Eric Stangel, one of the head writers for “The Late Show with David Letterman,” you are a fool.

The New York Post, as usual, goes all in on A-Rod. Here’s their Monday front cover. Subtle, no? Now, let’s get to the randoms:

That’s the CEO of Pussy Lickin’ Entertainment (free advertising!) bagging on you, A-Rod.

Actually, he has two children. Each more embarrassed of their father than the next.

Well, that gets right down to it, Michael.

Indeed. It’ll be rough in prison. Wait, what?

I guess I should’ve read “Harry Potter.” Oh well, I’ll assume this is a sick burn.

You and me both, @BradysTightEnd. You and me both.

Follow Metro New York Sports Editor Mark Osborne on Twitter @MetroNYSports. And yes, he’ll be tweeting about A-Rod, like it or not.
