Celtics’ Brad Stevens reaching out to former players, James Posey could join staff
The Celtics are reaching out to players from their storied past to help out in one of the more uncertain times in franchise history. Thirty-six year-old head coach Brad Stevens sent out letters to several former players to show up at practices “any time” just a few weeks back, according to the Boston Globe.
One former player from the C’s most recent championship is now said to be in the running to join Stevens’ coaching staff this season. ESPN reported this weekend that James Posey, a pivotal role player from the 2007-08 title season, is likely to become an assistant.Posey most recently helped out the Cleveland Cavaliers, coaching during the Vegas Summer League. He last played in the NBA for Indiana in 2011. Posey also spent parts of his 12-year pro career in Denver Houston, Memphis, Miami and New Orleans.
