Heat guard Dwyane Wade is quite familiar with rings. He has three of them from his playing career. Now, he’s given a very different kind of ring to longtime girlfriend Gabrielle Union.

Wade proposed to Union Saturday before the Heat Christmas Party and the 41-year-old actress said “yes.”

By the way, how is Union 41 years old? Maybe it’s because she played a high schooler 13 years ago (at 28) in the classic “Bring It On,” but I thought she was much younger. Wade, 31, is actually 10 years younger than Union.

The official announcement came via Twitter, as all momentous news is delivered nowadays. Wade posted a photo of the ginormous ring on Instagram and Twitter Saturday night, with accompanying message, “She said YES!!!”

Both Union and Wade were married previously. Wade was married to Siohvaughn Funches from 2002 to 2010 and has two children (Zion and Zaire) from the marriage. The two have gone through a very public and acrimonious divorce over the past couple years. Funches drew attention by sitting on the street in Chicago this July saying she was homeless and Wade was a deadbeat dad. Wade has sole custody of the children and the two finally came up with a $5 million divorce settlement after her public sit-in.

Union was married to former NFL player (theoretically, since he barely had a career) Chris Howard from 2001 to 2006. They had separated a year earlier.

Heat owner Micky Arison congratulated the couple, while Adrienne Bosh, wife of Wade’s teammate Chris Bosh, posted some photos of the happy couple on Twitter.
