Celtics fall to league’s best in Pacers

The Celtics played one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, the Indiana Pacers tough, but couldn’t pull out the victory as they fell, 102-97 at TD Garden Saturday night. The C’s have now lost six of their last seven games.

Trailing 55-48 at the half, the Celtics came from behind and actually led by two with five minutes to play, but couldn’t hang on down the stretch. Jeff Green led the team with 27 points, while five other Celtics reached double figures. Kris Humphries had 18 points while Brandon Bass added 16.

The Pacers were led by Paul George who had 25 points in the win.

The C’s will be back in action Wednesday night (7:30, CSNNE) when they host the Warriors at TD Garden.

What they’ll be saying: It was a tough game for the Celtics as despite being without Gerald Wallace, Avery Bradley and Kelly Olynyk due to injuries as they were in it until the very end. It was actually a very cleanly played game as the C’s only turned the ball over 10 times compared to only nine for Indiana. Rajon Rondo played well once again finishing with 12 points and 11 assists in a losing effort.
