Patriots bring in new receivers, new running back

Tom Brady will be 36-years-old when the Patriots open their 2013 slate in Orchard Park, N.Y. against the Bills. Several of the guys he will be throwing to that day will be close to 15 years his junior.

Bill Belichick and the Pats elected to build up their receiving corps through the draft this year as Marshall’s Aaron Dobson (59th overall pick) and TCU’s Josh Boyce (102nd overall pick) are set to make Foxboro home.

Dobson, a highlight-reel machine who could fit right in to the Pats’ 2013 opening day lineup, is ecstatic to be playing with No. 12.

“That right there … you can’t beat that,” Dobson told CSNNE.com. “The best quarterback in the league, you know. It’s just amazing because I’ve been watching him for so long and now I get the chance to play with him. It’s a blessing.”

Boyce, meanwhile, finished his career with the Horned Frogs having caught 161 balls for 2,535 yards and 22 touchdowns. He is expected to be mainly a slot receiver for New England.

Speedster Demps traded to Bucs for Blount

The Patriots are parting ways with one of their biggest 2012 enigmas in track and field superstar Jeff Demps. Demps has put his running career ahead of his football career and the Pats wanted the former Florida standout to give a full football commitment. New England shipped Demps to Tampa Bay Saturday in exchange for running back LeGarrette Blount.

The 6-foot, 247 pound Blount was a 1,000-yard rusher in his rookie season of 2010 but ran the ball just 41 times last season in Tampa Bay as back Doug Martin emerged.
