Tom Brady has the flu for the second straight week, or so it seems

Tom Brady had the sniffles at his press conference LAST TUESDAY, JAN. 7. When he was asked that day if he had a cold, the Pats QB  replied, “a little bit.”

No one is making the leap that Brady’s sickness affected his play in last week’s divisional round as he didn’t exactly put up monster numbers against the Colts (198 yards without a touchdown pass). It was quite obvious that the Patriots were succeeding with the run and stuck with it. There was really no need for No. 12 to go wild.

But the fact that Brady missed a key practice during the week of what is being billed as the most important championship football game in the history of championship football, is curious. The Boston Globe reported Wednesday that Brady’s symptoms were “flu/flu-like” and that he was sent home after arriving at Gillette Stadium facilities Wednesday morning, four days before the showdown in Denver.

It seems as though Brady has no one to blame but himself for this sickness. New England’s sub-zero hero started off the New Year playing in the snow with Gisele and his son. Then he was back outside, the day after a rainy divisional playoff game, sliding on slides with his boy.

We’ve seen Brady outside in and around Boston in the past two weeks more than we have seen him outside in the past two years. And now, Dad of the Year has “flu-like” symptoms?

There’s only one possible explanation. Brady, looking for that latter career championship ring, was watching old Michael Jordan videos on YouTube over the holidays and figured the best possible way to “Be Like Mike” was to get the flu on purpose.

Yes, you know it. I know it. Strange poop happens when you have the flu … so here’s guessing Brady, in a cold sweat, runs the ball himself 10 times this Sunday for 57 yards and connects with Matthew Mulligan 15 times in a Patriots road win.
