The Flyers came back with a vengeance in a 5-4 win against the Capitals Sunday, netting two goals in the final eight minutes of regulation to close a 4-2 gap before Vincent Lecavalier stunned the crowd in Washington with an overtime goal.

“We played a great game,” Lecavalier said. “It was a high intensity game, a lot of emotions on both sides. That five-minute power play we got gave us that chance and we took advantage of it, capitalized on it. Once it’s 4-4 it’s a new game.”

Claude Giroux scored the equalizer at the 1:05 mark, tipping in a Jake Voracek shot with an empty net behind him.

Just over a half-dozen minutes earlier during a five-minute power play, Vocacek scored to get the Flyers within one goal.

The come-from-behind win is even more remarkable considering the Flyers were outshot 17-6 in the opening 20 minutes but would tally more shots by the final buzzer, 36-29.

The Flyers now have back-to-back wins and are in second place in the Metropolitan Division.
