The body of a 13-year-old Pennsylvania girl, whose father suspects she was abducted, was discovered on Sunday.
Shevy McGiffin left her home in Clarion County in western Pennsylvania on Friday around 6:45 p.m. to walk to a nearby shopping area to buy a coloring book, and never returned.
A group of firefighters among a volunteer search party found her dead in a creek off the Clarion River, WPXI reported.
Her father suspected she had been abducted before the grim discovery of her body confirmed his worst fears.
“She’s so sweet, she’s quiet, she’d never run away, I know that. She loves her family, she loves her mom, she loves her dad,” Andrew Schneider, Shevy’s father, tearfully told WPXI before the discovery.
Shevy was reportedly last seen near the Dollar General and Comet Food Warehouse stores located one-fifth of a mile from her home, speaking to an older man in a gray or brown Buick, her parents told WPXI.
No details on the cause of death, which is under investigation by police, were immediately available. An autopsy was scheduled to take place Monday, but it is unclear when results will be announced.
A friend of the family created a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for the grieving family.
