The AFL’s Philadelphia Soul are the best pro sports team in the city

A 12-2 record is something Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles dream of for the upcoming season. For Clint Dolezel and the Philadelphia Soul, that dream is a reality.

In his third season at the helm of Philadelphia’s current winning franchise, Dolezel has his squad rolling.

Friday night the Soul put together a second-half offensive onslaught the Tampa Bay Storm could not handle, leading to a 64-42 victory.

In the fast-paced, explosive and high-scoring sport of Arena Football, the Soul have dominated the current season and clinched a playoff spot in Friday night’s victory.

“It’s really nice to clinch the playoffs this early,” Dolezel said after the game,”but that’s the last thing on our mind we’re trying to win the division next.”

The offensive numbers are staggering to see and are an offensive coordinators fantasy.

After Friday night’s performance, quarterback Dan Raudabaugh extended his passing total to3,985 yards. The fourth-year starter out of Miami University has a quarterback rating of 123.08 on the year and has his team cruising to its fourth straight playoff appearance.

Hidden under the spotlight of the four major sports teams in the city, many of those in the City of Brotherly love are unaware that the Soul have been the most successful.

In the past three seasons, the Soul have had the highest winning percentage in town out of all the Philly professional sports teams at .701 (47-20). The Flyers come in second at .535.

Dolezel has the determination and passion you would want to find in a head coach. Formerly the offensive coordinator, Dolezel guides his team to the best record in the league after a 9-9 2014 season.

The team is owned by former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski and itis giving playoff fever to a city anxious to witness a championship season, somethingthat’s been missing since the Phillies won the 2008 World Series.

The head coach can’t ignore the possibility that 2015 might be another title year, but his soul and focus remain intact to the game-by-game focal point.

“We still have several tough games left,” Dolezel said, “we’re going to enjoy tonight but then after bye week we’re going to come back and get back out here.”

The Soul return to action after the bye on Saturday, July 11 at 1 p.m. The game will be played at the Wells Fargo Center and will air on CBS Sports.
