The traditions of contemporary and modern Japan come to life amid hundreds of blooming cherry trees. Families (and their pets) can take part in all kinds of activities, like a Prettiest Pet in Pink Parade, Harajuku Fashion Show and, for the geeks among us, a cosplay area. There will be maki, too, courtesy of the Subaru Sushi Samurai of the Year.

Head over to the Gayborhood at lunch on Thursday for the 4th annual Food Truck Pop Up benefitting Dining Out for Life. Over a dozen food trucks, like The Cow and the Curd, Mac Mart, and Oink and Moo BBQ, will line up along Locust Street between 13th and Broad. Go hungry and take your coworkers. Thirty-three percent of the day’s earnings will be donated to local HIV/AIDS service organization ActionAIDS.

Just in time for the debut of season six of “Game of Thrones,” Brewery Ommegang teams up with Eastern State Penitentiary to launch its newest GOT-themed beer, Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale. There will also be samplings of previous GOT beers from Ommegang, fire spinners, and a DJ dance party. Feeling frisky? Plop down for a selfie in the Iron Throne, which will be rolled in for the festivities.

RAIR, an organization that raises awareness about sustainability issues through art, is screening the 2008 Disney blockbuster, “Wall-E” next to one of its latest installations: a giant heap of trash. The aforementioned garbage pile is located at construction and demolition waste recycling company Revolution Recovery (so it’s not the stinky kind of refuse). The screening starts at sundown (around 8 p.m.), but show up early for games, photo booths and other family-friendly activities.
