A cat that was bagged and tossed into the trash was rescued by an Upper Darby garbage man this week.

The live, healthy-looking cat was "tossed into a trash bag, sealed and thrown out with yesterday's trash," the Providence Animal Center announced Tuesday on their Facebook page. "She's our miracle kitten saved thanks to a conscientious Upper Darby trash man."

The animal center named the cat Grundgetta, after the girlfriend of beloved "Sesame Street" character Oscar the Grouch, who lives in a trash can by choice.

They are currently appealing to the public to find a foster home or adopter for the cat.

The animal center is also asking that anyone who has information about who may be responsible for tossing the cat into the garbage contact the Providence Animal Center (formerly known as the Delaware County SPCA) Humane Law Enforcement officers at 610-566-1370 ext. 214.
