Victim IDed after weekend homicide in Point Breeze

Police have identified the victim of a homicide that took place Friday afternoon in Philly’s up-and-coming Point Breeze section.

Twenty-six-year old Jessie Williams, of the 5400 block of Wissahickon Avenue, was gunned down just before 4:30 p.m. Friday along the 2000 block of Wharton Street, police said.

Police officers from the 17th district responded to reports of a shooting and found Williams shot inside his 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He was transported to Jefferson Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:06 p.m.

According to police, another male –whose name is not being released –was also inside the vehicle at the time – a 26-year old who suffered minor injuries to his face and head as a result of Williams’ Jeep crashing into two parkedcars. The male was transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Not much later, another shooting victim with a gunshot wound to his finger was identified along the 1200 block of Point Breeze Avenue. Twenty-six year old Tysheed Davis, of the 2200 block of Wharton Street, was transported to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police said that Williams was shot by Davis, and Williams returned fire, shooting Davis in the finger.

Two weapons were reportedly recovered from both scenes – one from inside Williams’ Jeep and another from the highway. Davis is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearms offenses and related offenses.
