South Philly ShopRite issues ground beef recall

ground beef
One local ShopRite is recalling store-made ground beef sold yesterday.

ShopRite of Snyder Plaza in the Pennsport section of South Philadelphia has voluntarily recalled all store-made ground beef sold yesterday, Feb. 5 because of the possibility it may contain small pieces of the black tray lining pad used in its packaging.

“We are advising customers who purchased any of these products at the ShopRite of Snyder Plaza to return them for an immediate refund or replacement,” spokeswoman Karen Meleta said.

“Although the pieces of the liner may not cause an immediate health risk if ingested, we wanted to alert the public so appropriate steps can be taken.”

No injuries related to the recall have been reported, and the isolated incident is confined only to store-made ground beef and only to the ShopRite of Snyder Plaza.

All customers are asked to check the labels of any ground beef products purchased from that store location and to return any affected products for a full refund or replacement.

Pre-packaged ground beef products and ground beef sold in other ShopRite stores are not affected by this recall.

Customers with questions or concerns are asked to call 1-800-SHOPRITE (1-800-746-7748).
