Around 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, McCullough, 24, was on patrol with his partner when a woman flagged them down near Salford and Market streets, NBC10 stated. She indicated that two men were breaking into her car.

When the officers approached the vehicle, two men exited and ran from the scene, 6ABC added. McCullough tackled one of the suspects and was subsequently shot in his thigh at close range.

One of the suspects in the incident has been taken into custody, but the alleged shooter remained at large on Monday morning, Fox29 reported.
