’Hours before Donald J. Trump will be inaugurated as 45th POTUS, Canadian evolutionary biologist and systematist Dr. Vazrick Nazari named a new moth species in his honor. The newly discovered insect bears the name of ‘Neopalpa donaldtrumpi’ because it appears to share the same vivid “yellowish-white” hair-do of the President-elect.

"The specific epithet is selected because of the resemblance of the scales on the frons (head) of the moth to Mr. Trump’s hairstyle,” says Canadian scientist Vazrick Nazari. 

Facts about Neopalpa donaldtrumpi

Distribution. California and Arizona (U.S.) and Baja California (Mexico).

Threats. Its habitat is under serious threat of urbanization.

Hairstyle. Yellowish-white scales are present on head in adults.

Wingspan. The new moth species has a wingspan that can range from 7 to 12 millimeters.
