Peyton Manning, Jim Irsay and Papa John Schnatter: The search for more money

The above video should remind you of the happiest times in Indy. Back before Jim Irsay was publicly dissing Peyton Manning and back when Papa John’s crap pizza wasn’t considered the gold standard of crap pizza in this country.

On the same day Manning fielded questions about Irsay’s comments (offering up a ‘no comment’), TMZ reported that the 21 Papa John’s franchises that Manning bought in the Denver area are “killing it.” In fact, one location reported a 25 percent increase in sales since last year.

The benefits of a Manning-owned Papa John’s location include 50 percent off purchases on Mondays after a Broncos win (of which they’re doing a lot these days) and the chance to stare at cardboard cutouts of Manning and John Schnatter, the billionaire who runs Papa John’s and occasionally gets blackout drunk at collegiate sporting events.

Like Papa John, Irsay is also, obviously, rich and also has been known to throw a few back. As long as the Colts owner can steer clear of directly ripping Manning and instead focus on nailing awesome one-liners like this, we’ll all get back to that happy place. And in that happy place, Manning, Irsay and Schnatter will all make more money than you, your son and his grandchildren will ever dream of making. Sigh.
