She said what?!
In this week’s episode of Italians say the darndest things, we head out to Belgium.
According to USA Today Sports, an Italian gymnast’s ill-fated attempt at humor came crashing down when she told the news outlet that “next time we’ll have our skin black also so we can win, too.” The quote came from Carlotta Ferlito. The “we” was referring to herself and teammate Vanessa Ferrari, who finished fourth and fifth on the balance beam last Sunday in the world championships. The girl that beat them out for bronze? American Simone Bile, a 16-year-old who also took home gold in the all-around there.
Ferlito was laughing when she made the comment, which was an apparent Joyce Evans-like attempt at comedy. In addition to losing to Bile, she was also making reference to American Gabby Douglas, who captivated the world at the 2012 Olympics when she struck gold in the all-around. Ferlito has since apologized for the remark.
Look, we’re not saying Ferlito is a racist — she’s just not a very good comedian. She must have went to the Kenny Bania school of stand-up comedy. Hopefully, y’all get that reference.
Shady doesn’t like Moreno
LeSean McCoy loves picking fights on Twitter, whether it’s with his alleged baby mama, that ballerina Osi Umenyiora or that sucky running back Knowshon Moreno.
The Eagles star took to Twitter on Sunday night and wrote, “Knowshon Moreno sucks.” On Wednesday, he joked about it with reporters, starting his press conference by saying that Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin, whom the Eagles face this week, is a “heck of a running back.”
Why the hatred for Moreno? Well, there is no hatred, really. McCoy was just poking some fun at Moreno, the 12th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. You see, McCoy thinks — no, he is — a way better NFL player and can’t get over the fact that he was selected in the second round, some 41 picks after Moreno. Go figure.
