Rutgers horse Lord Nelson dies at 42

Lord Nelson, a horse who carried Rutgers’ Scarlet Knight mascot during football games, died this week at the ancient horse age of 42 (126 human years). Lord Nelson holds the distinction of being the only horse to ever be penalized during a college football game as he was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after breaking free and racing down the sideline at Giants Stadium during a 1994 game against Army.
