Hundreds of people recently attended a wedding at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, Indiana to watch a woman get married to God.
Jessica Hayes, 38, was dressed in a lovely white wedding gown as she became one of the few consecrated virgins in the world to marry her groom — Jesus Christ.
Hayes became the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese’s first consecrated virgin in 25 years.
A consecrated virgin is a woman who chooses to remain celibate for her entire life while serving God, according to the Catholic Church.
“I’m so happy to have had so many witnesses today because there may be others that the Lord is calling in this way that have now heard of this life and can consider it in their prayer,” Hayes said during an interview with wane.com.
