Hazell Stoudemire, the brother of Knicks star Amar’e, was killed in a car crash Monday morning near his home in Florida.
Hazell Stoudemire, 34, was traveling at a high rate of speed in his Cadillac Escalade and rear ended a tractor trailer at 1:45 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on U.S. 27 in Lake Wales, Fla. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lake Wales is in central Florida, about an hour east of Tampa, and near Winter Haven. Amar’e Stoudemire was born in Lake Wales and was Florida Mr. Basketball in 2002.
Amar’e Stoudemire is traveling to Florida and will not play again Utah tonight at Madison Square Garden.
