Big East Game 2 primer: Rutgers vs. Seton Hall

Game No. 2: Rutgers (14-16, 5-13 Big East) vs. Seton Hall (13-17, 7-11 Big East)

Line: Seton Hall -4.5

TV: 2 p.m., ESPN2

What to watch for: The NCAA isn’t the only tournament where it’s all about matchups. If you’re looking for a sleeper, Seton Hall is it. The Pirates have knocked off each of their first three potential Big East tourney opponents during the regular season and dismissed another NCAA tournament team in Marquette, 85-72, over the weekend. The Hall is a lot like Notre Dame, in that when they stroke it from the perimeter they can hang with anyone. Only not everyone on their team looks exactly like Luke Harangody.

Tourney talk: Two wins from the Hall and they should get a bid to the NIT or the CBI .. or FBI or NAACP.

Sheen meter: “I have a 10,000-year-old brain and the boogers of a 7-year-old.” Is that quote complete nonsense or is just crazy enough to be brilliant? That’s Seton Hall, which shoots 30.7 percent from long range but every once in a while gets hot, like when it banged home 11 in the first half vs. Marquette.

Prediction: We like the Pirates today and tomorrow. Jeremy Hazell will make MSG his own personal playground – at least for a little while.

Seton Hall 69, Rutgers 64 – the identical score of their Feb. 12 meeting.

Winner faces: No. 5 St. John’s tomorrow at 2 p.m.
