Boston is unofficially titled the “Hub of hockey” but in the spring of 2015 it will become official for a long weekend.

The NCAA announced Wednesday that the 2015 Frozen Four will take place at TD Garden. The national semifinals will take place on Thursday, April 9 with the National Championship game scheduled for Saturday, April 11.

The TD Garden has hosted the event in 1998 and 2004. The old Boston Garden hosted the event three years in a row, from 1972-74 and Northeastern University’s Matthews Arena (then ‘Boston Arena’), hosted in 1960.

Boston schools have routinely appeared in the Frozen Four as Boston College has appeared 23 times and Boston University has appeared 21 times. Harvard has 12 appearances. Only Michigan has more appearances than BC, with 24.
