Domonic Brown hit his 20th home run of the season Tuesday night as the Phillies defeated the San Diego Padres, 6-2.
Kyle Kendrick pitched eight solid innings to pick up the win for the Phillies, improving his record to 7-4 on the season.
Brown's three-run home run in the third inning proved to be all the offense the Phillies (37-41) would need in support of Kendrick. It gave the visitors a 3-2 lead after San Diego built an early lead in the second inning.
Brown added a fourth RBI in the fifth when he drew a bases-loaded walk off Padres starting pitcher Jason Marquis, who had won his last eight decisions. He now has 54 RBIs on the year.
Kendrick allowed two runs on seven hits. He struck out six and walked none, and saw his ERA drop to 3.46.
The Phillies and Padres (39-39) are scheduled to play the final game of their three-game series tonight beginning at 10:10.
