Doc Rivers will speak into a microphone in Los Angeles today as the new head coach of the Clippers. Don’t expect Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce to be joining him on the left coast anytime soon.

CBS Sports reported yesterday that the NBA will not allow the Celtics and Clippers to make any more deals with each other for an entire year. This would prevent the C’s from rekindling any deal that would send Garnett to LA in exchange for DeAndre Jordan, a deal that had been rumored for over a week. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, three way deals involving the two clubs are not allowed either.

Stein also reported yesterday that several teams are interested in acquiring Paul Pierce and that the Celtics are open to trading their captain as soon as this week. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks have both expressed interest in Pierce, according to Stein’s report yesterday. The Celtics are said to be asking for a first round pick.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge must make a decision on Pierce by Sunday. The Celtics can either pick up his option for the 2013-14 season, worth $15 million, or buy him out for $5 million.
