Celtics fall in heart-breaker to Pelicans

In one of the most entertaining games of the season, the Celtics fell to the Pelicans, 121-120 in overtime Sunday night.

With the Celtics trailing by three with four seconds remaining in regulation Jeff Green was fouled shooting a three-pointer. After making all three free throws and a New Orleans timeout, Anthony Davis' jumper appeared to give the Pelicans the win, but after a Celtics timeout with just one second remaining, Kris Humphries sent the game into overtime with a 20-foot jumper as time expired.

In the overtime session Tyreke Evans scored back-to-back hoops with just over a minute remaining to give the Pelicans a four-point lead with 1:34 left -- a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Anthony Davis stole the show for the Pelicans finishing with 40 points and 21 rebounds, dominating the game at times. Jeff Green wasn't far behind for the C's going for a team-high 39 points in the loss.

The Celtics will be back in action tomorrow night (8:30, CSNNE) in Dallas taking on the Mavericks.

What they'll be saying: It was as tough of a loss as the Celtics have had all season with the wild final seconds of regulation to force overtime and then not coming away with the win. Rajon Rondo had 14 assists, while Humphries had another double-double, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds. In the second game of the back-to-back, Rondo will not play against Dallas Monday night and Avery Bradley (12 points) will make his first start since his return from his right ankle injury.
