Celtics trade update

Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett could soon be members of the LA Clippers organization. Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett could soon be members of the LA Clippers organization.

The ball seems to be back in the Celtics’ court after the Clippers re-engaged trade talks yesterday afternoon regarding Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett heading to Los Angeles.

Yahoo Sports reported that the Clippers called the Celtics due to free agent point guard to be Chris Paul wanting the deal to be completed. Los Angeles cut off talks Tuesday, citing that the Celtics were asking for too much in return – namely two first round draft picks in addition to center DeAndre Jordan.

According to Yahoo, Clippers management thought that the Celtics would be the ones to re-engage due to the idea that Boston president Danny Ainge would not be able to repair a relationship with Rivers. Information was leaked to the press Tuesday that Rivers would be meeting with Ainge in Boston yesterday.

The Yahoo report stated that the Clippers have already negotiated a contract with Rivers worth $35 million over five years.

“The money is not a hang-up in this right now,” a source told Yahoo yesterday. “It’s about the draft pick.”
