Chandler keeping mouth shut, ignoring rumors

Go ahead and keep making noise about Carmelo Anthony. The biggest piece of that trading puzzle will just keep his mouth shut.

Go ahead and keep making noise about Carmelo Anthony. The biggest piece of that trading puzzle will just keep his mouth shut.

Wilson Chandler is used to the buzz. It’s surrounded him before all the ’Melo-drama and it'll still be hanging over his head if he's still a Knick after the Feb. 24 trade deadline.

Chandler is averaging career numbers across the board this season — 16.4 points, six rebounds, 1.3 blocks per game — which makes him a valuable trading chip.

“You always wonder what’s going on, but you can’t let it affect your game and professionalism,” said teammate Amar’e Stoudemire.

Chandler isn’t speaking to the media. According to Stoudemire, he’s fine.

“He’s doing great. Wilson’s a pro,” Stoudemire added. “He’s got his head clear and working hard.”

Coach Mike D’Antoni said he’s never worried about Chandler’s psyche, especially since this isn’t the first time his name has come up in the rumor mill.

“Maybe a month ago [it would’ve bothered him], but I think he’s fine now,” D’Antoni said. “We all know the situation and what we’re getting into when you’re on the Knicks. But you have to hone in and play ball once you step on the floor.”
