There is always an international star in each NBA Draft who people get excited about. Sometimes they turn out to be Andrea Bargnani. Sometimes Yi Jianlian. Sometimes Darko Milicic. OK, so they rarely turn out to be good.
But that doesn’t stop fans from getting excited about the unknown.
By now, you probably know Thursday night’s international draft sensation is Australian Dante Exum. The 6-foot-6 point guard has earned rave reviews for his athleticism and length (draft buzz word!). But very few Americans have seen him though he’s expected to get drafted in the top 5 picks.
So if you haven’t seen the Aussie sensation, please peruse the video selection below. As far as international highlight reels go, it’s much better than Yi going one-on-one with a chair.
He certainly has an NBA body. In fact, he is very reminiscent of last year’s Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams. It’s puzzling that some experts believe the Sixers at No. 3 could select Exum despite Carter-Williams being a future star.
But whoever selects Exum, we’ll be excited to see if he lives up to the hype.
