Jackson endorses Vick as starter

Philadelphia Eagles v Arizona Cardinals DeSean Jackson called the Eagles’ 2012 season a “reality check for everybody.”

DeSean Jackson is sticking with his gut instinct. The Eagles receiver echoed previous comments predicting Mike Vick would win the starting quarterback competition at training camp.

Jackson appeared on ESPN’s “First Take” Wednesday and addressed a variety of topics, including the issue under center. Vick and Nick Foles are considered the front-runners to win the job.

“In my opinion, honestly, I don’t want to be put on the spot, I know y’all gonna do me like that, but Michael Vick’s got a lot of confidence in himself,” Jackson said. “He’s been there, going on 12 years in the NFL, I think he’ll get the job.”

Jackson also called the 2012 season, the one that saw the team go 4-12 and ended with Andy Reid being fired, a “reality check for everybody.”

“We can’t really look backwards. We’re going to move forward this year,” he said. “We’ve got Chip Kelly coming in there. He’s installing a great offense, high tempo. We’re going to catch a lot of teams off guard this year.”
