Domonic Brown named NL Player of Month, Player of Week (again)

Citizens Bank Park might soon be filled with No. 9 jerseys.

On Monday, rising Phillies slugger Domonic Brown was named NL Player of the Month — an inevitable honor considering the damage he did in the month of May. He was also named NL Player of the Week for a second straight week.

Brown batted .444 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs in seven games from May 27-June 2. He nearly hit for the cycle in Sunday’s 7-5 win, missing it by a double. For May, Brown hit .303 with 12 dingers and 25 RBIs.

Brown was left for dead coming into the season. Many pundits and fans thought the former top prospect had blown his chance at making an impact after very mediocre stints in the majors in recent seasons.

Think again? Well, let’s not crown him yet … but he certainly looks like he has finally figured it out. Now the question is, will big-league pitchers adjust to him?

Philadelphia Phillies v Washington Nationals Dom Brown leads the National League with 16 homers. No, really, he does.
