Eagles work out former Cowboy Felix Jones

Cleveland Bowns v Dallas Cowboys Eagles bring in first-round bust Felix Jones for workout.

The Eagles are bringing in (gasp) … a Cowboy?

Well, not yet. But the team did work out free agent running back Felix Jones Tuesday at the NovaCare Complex, according to multiple reports.

Jones, who rushed for 2,728 yards and 11 touchdowns in five seasons in Dallas, has battled injuries in recent years.

Jones, a 2008 first-round draft pick, is a dual-threat back who can run the ball, catch it out of the backfield and even return kick-offs (24.0 yard average). The 5-foot-10, 215-pounder turned 26 years old Wednesday.

The Eagles are short on depth at running back, too. The team has only two veterans — Bryce Brown and Chris Polk, both second-year players — on the roster after trading Dion Lewis to the Browns.

Brown was impressive in limited action last season, but he struggled with protecting the football. Polk flashed potential in training camp, but rarely saw the field. New head coach Chip Kelly has been raving about Polk’s speed.
