Eagles looking to lock up star wide receiver next?

There is only man who truly knows if the Eagles have enough money left to reach an extension with DeSean Jackson.

For now, that man is keeping those talks — if they are indeed happening — completely private.

When a reporter asked Joe Banner if there was another announcement coming next week, the Eagles president joked, “I got two years left on my deal.”

All joking aside, the Eagles might pop some bubbly to toast Michael Vick and then get back to the negotiating table.

Jackson, in the final year of a rookie contract that pays him $560,000 this season, shooed away reporters after practice yesterday. The Twitter-savvy receiver has also been quiet on social media (at press time, he hadn’t even posted a message to congratulate Vick).

While Banner wouldn’t get into specifics, he did permit that it would be possible for the Eagles to extend another Pro Bowl player.

“It is possible,” Banner said. “Again, all the conversations we’re having — or aren’t having — are confidential.”

The team reportedly freed up almost $4 million in cap space by signing Vick. So, is that true?

“We run models based on the projected roster and everything, and I couldn’t even tell you right now,” Banner said.
