Eagles to open season against Redskins

All those fans that wanted to see Chip Kelly on the national stage … get ready.

The Eagles will open the season Sept. 9 on Monday Night Football when they travel to D.C. to battle Robert Griffin III and the Redskins.

The Birds will kick-off the first part of a double-header that night to conclude NFL’s opening weekend. It marks only the second time in franchise history the Eagles have opened on Monday Night Football, and the 10th time they start against Washington.

The team will play its home opener the following week (Sunday, Sept. 15) against the San Diego Chargers at 1 p.m.

And they won’t have to wait for the Andy Reid reunion, which takes place Sept. 19 when Big Red brings his Chiefs into the Linc. Save the date.

Other highlights include: at Denver (Sept. 29), at NY Giants (Oct. 6), vs. Dallas (Oct. 20), at Green Bay (Nov. 10) and vs. Chicago (Dec. 22). The Eagles also endure three straight road games for the first time since 2006, when they went 3-0 against the NFC East.
