The Flyers shipped Andrej Meszaros up to Boston Wednesday, trading the veteran defenseman for a 2014 conditional third-round draft pick.
The pick becomes a second-rounder if the Bruins make the Eastern Conference finals and if Meszaros plays in at least two-thirds of Boston’s playoff games, or if the Bruins re-sign the 28-year-old before the draft.
If Boston signs Meszaros after the draft the Flyers receive an additional fourth-round pick in 2015.
It became clear Tuesday evening, after the Flyers acquired shot-blocking defenseman Andrew MacDonald from the Islanders that Meszaros was expendable and would likely be traded away.
Meszaros, who will be an unrestricted free agent at year’s end, had 17 points for the Flyers this season.
