Former Eagles head coach and NFL defensive specialist Buddy Ryan passed away Tuesday morning, the NFL confirmed. He was 82 years old.
Ryan coached in the NFL for 35 seasons and had multiple Super Bowl wins under his belt. He spent five seasons leading the Eagles, from 1986 to 1990, and held a 42-38-1 record while in Philadelphia. According to the Inquirer, Ryan led the Birds to three playoff games, but held a 0-3 postseason record, and was fired in 1991.
Still, diehard fans still remember Ryan as one of the top Eagles coaches, bringing strong defensive strategy to a team-defining era.
Eagles fans took to Twitter early Tuesday to memorialize their beloved coach.
