Happy Valentines for these athletes

When you’re a professional athlete, you don’t take your sweetie to the local Applebee’s to celebrate.  Here’s what we figure A-Rod, Favre and others will be doing for V-Day.

We’re not really fans of Valentine’s Day. It’s nothing more than a pseudo-holiday created by corporate America to sell candy, flowers and greeting cards — an estimated one billion of ’em.

Personally, as sports enthusiasts, we’re looking forward to this weekend’s college hoops slate — right up to Monday night’s contests between No. 2 Kansas and Kansas State and No. 13 Syracuse and West Virginia — a lot more than Valentine’s weekend itself.

Still, there are a slew of athletes who should have big plans. For example, Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima has asked her Serbian basketball player husband, Marko Jaric, to propose to her again to celebrate.

With that in mind, let’s take a look and give some predictions of how others might be spending their Valentine’s Days.

Alex Rodriguez: Future Hall of Famer, “Something About Mary” superfan
A romantic getaway at the Popcorn Festival in Valparaiso, Ind. If he plays his cards right, maybe they’ll make A-Rod and actress girlfriend Cameron Diaz the grand marshals. Based on their Super Bowl showing, they’d be great.

Kris Humphries: Mediocre Nets PF, luckiest role-player in the entire world
We’re thinking a quiet movie night with super-hot reality “star” girlfriend Kim Kardashian. Better yet, three words:?camcorder, tripod, enjoy.

Brett Favre: Probably-retired interception machine, probably not the next Verizon guy
Shopping for diamond rings — unless there’s a Hallmark card that says “Sorry I sent pictures of my little Packer to everyone not named Deanna.” Just remember, Brett:?Kobe set the bar high.

Tiger Woods: Ruined former golf superstar, South?Park punchline
Dinner for one at Perkins. When you’re that famous, you can’t fly solo at a fancy restaurant — plus, we already know how much Tiger enjoys their Mammoth Muffins. (Look them up; they’re on the menu.)

Andy Roddick:?Tennis star, luckiest tennis star in the entire world
In bed. All day. When you’re married to arguably the hottest woman in the world — Brooklyn Decker — you grab some roses and a bucket of champagne and remain indoors.
