HBO renews ‘Game of Thrones’

After drawing 4.2 million viewers for its Sunday night
premiere, “Game of Thrones” has received a second season pickup, HBO
announced this morning.

“We are delighted by the way David Benioff and D.B. Weiss
have brought George R.R. Martin’s amazing book series to the screen, and
thrilled by the support of the media and our viewers,” said Michael Lombardo,
president, HBO Programming. “This is the continuation of an exciting
creative partnership.”

The gorgeous, epic show is based on the bestselling fantasy novel
series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by Martin, who told Metro before the premiere
that he hopes to write one episode per season if HBO committed to airing “Game
of Thrones” for multiple years. Check out the full interview with the author
