Heading for ‘The Hills’

In the four years since “The Hills” debuted its brand of “reality” television on MTV, it’s become harder and harder to control the plots. Now celebrities, the cast is routinely playing out their own stories in the tabloids — which should make for an even more drama-filled Season 6, according to the admittedly “gossipy” Stephanie Pratt. We caught up with her to talk the realities of reality TV, including the ongoing feud between her, her brother Spencer Pratt, and his wife, Heidi Montag.

On the show’s creative editors

“I’m so scared to see how it all plays out. I think I’m definitely portrayed as a gossipy person, but outside of the show, I’m much more mellow. I think that’s why I gravitate towards guys — way more exciting than talking about haircuts.”

On letting it all hang out

“We didn’t know how real it was going to be. Before we had to maintain these images, where not all of our gritty stuff was on the show. But then this season, I got a DUI, Heidi got 10 plastic surgeries, and there were all these rumors about Kristin partying. Now that the press reports it, we don’t try to hide it.”

So, what does Heidi look like up close?

“I don’t really see her. I haven’t seen her since the surgery. Everyone’s like, ‘It’s so weird that you don’t talk to Heidi and Spencer.’ But we’re just like any other siblings; we go through phases.”
