The preseason team-building trip has long been a staple of Claude Julien’s coaching repertoire.
Last year was Brattleboro, Vt. This year’s trip was last weekend, and the location was kept secret until Julien announced on a conference call the media today: Diamond Cove on Great Diamond Island, Maine.
The Casco Bay island, according to Wikipedia, has a year-round population of 77. Julien said the Bruins took a ferry to get there.
“We had an area where it was very quiet and secluded,” Julien said. “We were able to do what we needed to do as a team. A lot of the stuff we did was based around the water. Our guys seemed to enjoy it, although we had plenty of water coming from the sky yesterday — but we also had water underneath us. It was challenging, it was a lot of fun and I think everyone enjoyed it.”
