Jets’ Moore takes midday trip to preschool

It was a busy day for Jets right guard Brandon Moore, who missed the on-the-field session of minicamp as he attended his daughter’s preschool graduation.

On Tuesday morning, Moore attended the team’s morning meeting to kickoff minicamp, then made the 15-minute drive to his daughter’s school for her graduation ceremony. He got a chance to see the full ceremony, including watching her sing with her classmates and get her diploma, but Moore said that attending the morning session with his teammates nearly caused some worry for his daughter.

“She woke up this morning when I wasn’t there and was like ‘Where’s daddy?’ She was wondering if I was going to make it,” Moore said. “I came here for a meeting and then left after that.”

Moore returned to the team’s facility in the afternoon for film study and workouts.

The coaching staff cleared the veteran Moore, set to enter his 10th year in the league, all with the Jets, to miss the practice portion of Tuesday’s minicamp. It couldn’t have been much of a difficult decision for the Jets given Moore’s longevity and understanding of their offense, especially since he has started every game for the team over the past seven years.

After leaving the morning meeting and on his way to the preschool, Moore stopped off to pick up “an assortment of flowers” to give his daughter as a gift. As beautiful as the bouquet was, it wasn’t the best part of the day for her.

“Afterwards we just went to a Morristown deli and had lunch. I think she had a pizza bagel or something like that. It was just about the highlight of her day,” Moore said.

“It definitely was fun to see her — to see the excitement on her face as she walking down the aisle smiling and waving, looking for us. It is one of the many stages of her life. I was glad to see it.”
