Trade winds between the Patriots and Texans have been whipping seemingly since the day former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien took the Houston head coaching job early in 2014.
Rumors of a talent swap heated up last week during the NFL Draft as a source told CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran that backup quarterback Ryan Mallett “may be completed soon.” The Mallett trade still hasn’t happened but a new wrinkle was added to a potential New England-Houston exchange Tuesday as Texans All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson openly questioned his future with the organization.
“When you’ve been somewhere for a long time, nobody’s been here as long as I have,” Johnson told the Houston Chronicle. “I’ve been thinking about things this offseason. Kind of wonder if this is still the place for me.”
